iOS 6 on iPad 3 Spotted in Analytics, Confirms Retina Display – [REPORT]
March 3, 2012 at 2:03 AM

Employees at Apple’s testing lab is already using iPad 3 running iOS 6 for internet browsing, reports Ars Technica, who spotted the telltale markers of iOS 6 buried deep inside their server logs.  It’s a strong indication that the newest operating system from Apple has been installed on at least iPad 3 and is being tested by Apple engineers.

Analytic evidence suggests that as many as 346 visits were made from an iPad running iOS 6 with a screen resolution of 2048×1536 - corroborating earlier claims for the “retina” display. The site looked to other sources, which confirmed that iOS 6 had indeed begun being tested.

iPad 3 logs iOS 6

But to add to this discovery, we began looking at iPad user agents coming from Apple’s corporate IP block in Cupertinoand discovered that Apple appears to surfing the Web using iPads running what looks like iOS 6.0. The whole listing shows iPads running iOS 5, iOS 5.0.1 (the current public release), iOS 5.1 (the upcoming release currently available to developers), and iOS 6. The iPads that appear to be running iOS 6 are also using a slightly newer build of WebKit-the older OSes all show WebKit 534.46, while the ones claiming to be iOS 6 shows WebKit build 535.8.

It is highly unlikely that Apple will ship iOS 6 with an iPad 3 on March 7th or will take any opportunity to share information about the future iOS at that event, but it's a clear indication that the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5) will probably be introduced with an iOS 6. This is good news for Apple users for sure, but those good feelings should be tempered with the realization that an iOS 6.0 release could be far off. With many people still running on iOS 5.0.1, why would the 6.0 come any sooner?

Aloud Cydia Tweak: Get your iOS Notification Messages Read Out Loud in 30 Languages
March 2, 2012 at 9:58 PM

There are a lot of Notification center apps out there but not many reads your incoming notification messages out loud when they arrive. That’s where Ori’s new feature rich jailbreak tweak, Aloud, comes in. With the app installed and active, it automatically reads out loud the messages you receive on your Notification center which is perfect if you’re driving.

You can setup Activator Actions to repeat the last notification or stop speaking the current one. Other Activator Actions includes system state and the current time and date. For instance, if you set Activator Action ‘Hold’ for system state, you will get voice notification, as soon as you press the screen for few seconds. You’ll information such as WiFi, how much battery is left, whether the device is charging or not, etc. If you set Action ‘Swipe Left’ for system state, you’ll be notified (by voice) with the current date and time as soon as you swipe your iOS device screen from left to right.

Aloud Tweak settings Preferences

Aloud cydia tweak speaks over 30 foreign languages including Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, et cetera. The full language list can be found here.  You can even customize Aloud’s voice with a custom rate and a custom volume and suppress the original notification sounds at your disposal. The tweak can be configured in such a way that it speaks for certain selected applications or turn-on to make Aloud app speak only for selected apps. It also works with any incoming message notification.

Aloud Tweak notification rules

Aloud iPhone tweak provides you with endless options to configure. You can set ‘Notification Rules’ for when you don’t want Aloud to interrupt you – for instance while in meeting, charging iPhone, driving or during a call. Notification Rules can applied differently if your iOS device is in locked or unlocked state or both. To keep your personal life aside, you can turn-off voice notifications on special events or on holidays or set on specific days. Aloud messages can be disabled to arrive in a specific duration of time. The feature comes handy during sleeping hours. Suppose if you go to sleep at 10 PM and wake up at 6 AM, you can set it up to stop at 23:00 and start at 06:00. The tweak has been configured to work with MusicBanners that gives you banner notifications with the song name, album art and music application.

Aloud Tweak hour-set

Via the activation rules, you can choose whether you want Activator actions to be forced to listen to the settings that you set for notifications rules, or you can have any action invoked by Activator app. However, if you use Aloud tweak with Activator, it will override the settings you set for the notifications rules. Under the custom-formatting section of the preferences, Aloud tweak allows you to choose how your notifications are spoken. By default, ‘dynamic’ is enabled. It will say (for example) “app: Twitter mentioned by @sjobs, hey how are you?” You can, however, set to read only the title, or the message, or both.

iOS developer Ori Kadosh, who has already got popular tweaks in his portfolio (Flowtation, Applocker, Lockscreen Multitasking), is offering Aloud Cydia tweak for an introductory price of $0.99 for the first three days and $1.99 thereafter. The tweak, available under ModMyi repo, is compatible to run on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running jailbroken iOS 5.

DisableLaunch: Password Protect your iOS Apps with Activator Commands
March 2, 2012 at 5:30 PM

Cydia Store is becoming huge everyday with number of jailbreak Apps being added by developers every few hours. Since security has always been a major concern for most of the iPhone user, it is important for them to protect their apps being accessed by other people. A new cydia tweak DisableLaunch has just been released to cydia store – the perfect solution to locking your iOS apps from prying eyes but the only catch – you need to jailbreak your iOS device on minimum iOS 5.

DisableLaunch tweak adds another security layer to your iOS device and comes handy in situations when your phone is lost or stolen and you want to prevent unauthorized reading of private Emails and viewing of files, pictures, videos, et cetera. Or, say you don’t want your kids to access Twitter, App Store, Facebook or any other app. It provides one of the easiest ways to password protect iPhone apps and essentially makes your all iOS devices far more convenient, and just as secure.

DisableLaunch tweak

In order to install DisableLaunch jailbreak tweak, you must jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and add BigBoss repo. After installation is completed, it will add a new pane to Settings.app, in which a password can be added to all your iOS applications, meaning they won’t launch unless you know the numeric password. To set it, go to Settings, choose Activation Methods, enable Authentication and enter password. The next time you try to launch any applications protected by DisableLaunch you will be prompted for your special word. However, you can even enable/disable the tweak at your disposal.

While most of the security applications come with a price tag, iOS developer va2ron1 has just made DisableLaunch for free. Go and get it!

AnyVoice Cydia Tweak: Change Siri Voice with 30 Different Foreign Accents
March 2, 2012 at 3:48 PM

AnyVoice, a new tweak has hit the underground Cydia store that allows you to customize the voice of Siri assistant on your iOS device. With AnyVoice jailbreak tweak you can apply accents to Siri voices. For non-American users such as a Russian, Japanese, Swedish, German, it is hard to understand English with an American English accent. But this tweak removes the barrier.

There’s not as much choice as for speech input, but you can at least pick from a few popular languages and accents via settings.app. For example, if you want Siri to speak French with an Australian accent, you can easily do so. I sound a lot more like Americans or British. I often don’t mind my French accent, but when I used the AnyVoice tweak, I realized that my French accent will be improved. Of course my intonation and pronunciation remain the same, but something very characteristic about the voice quality has changed

AnyVoice iPhone app

AnyVoice Tweak runs independently and doesn’t affect other voice tweaks installed on your jailbroken iPhone. Suppose, you have SpeakEvents Tweak installed on your iOS device, it will read out the notifications for you with its original voice.

I personally, don’t see any major advantage of installing AnyVoice on my iPhone except that it will provide you with a few minutes of entertainment. If, for any reason, you want to give Siri a foreign accent, install AnyVoice Cydia Tweak from Cydia store available under ModMyi repository for free. Time to give it a try! I think you’ll be surprised.

How to Update Cydia Apps & Tweaks on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch
March 1, 2012 at 7:59 PM

If you’re just getting started with your newly jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and downloading lots of great cydia tweaks and apps, you must make sure that you have installed the updated version of it. The latest version will provide new features and important bug fixes, and it’s really easy to do, though the process is a bit different from Apple Appstore. Here’s how it works, step by step.

Just like the App Store, you’ll get updates available for any jailbreak app installed on your iOS device. If you see a circular red badge on your Cydia icon, it means you’ve got updates waiting to install. This update feature runs in the background, ready to accept updates as they are pushed out to the cydia store.

updating Cydia apps

How to update jailbreak apps through Cydia installer

  1. Go to your iPhone’s home screen and tap on the Cydia icon to launch it.
  2. After the Cydia opens, sources will refresh and there will be a red number badge next to the Changes icon. Tap on the Changes tab at the bottom of the screen in middle. Here you will see the available updates for all applications you have installed on your device. If the list is blank, then you don’t have any updates available yet. However, if the list contains applications, move on to next step.
  3. Optionally, Select the app you want to update to see what changes developer has pushed into it. It could be fixing the app for incompatibility issue, or adding new features. Make sure your iOS device supports the latest version. Sometimes, the developers’ pushes applications based on latest public firmware and if your device doesn't support it, the app may not work for you.
  4. Tap on the Upgrade button at the top right to install updated and latest version of your cydia app.
  5. Click the big rectangular button Restart your springboard.

Repeat the steps above for all of your outdated cydia applications. That’s it! You’ve updated your jailbreak applications to the most recent versions.

Zephyr Cydia Tweak: Brings edge-swipe Multitasking Gestures on iPad
March 1, 2012 at 3:14 PM

Zephyr, a tweak that brings Harmattan-style multitasking gestures on iOS 5 and above, has been updated with iPad support. Earlier, the tweak was limited to run on iPhone and iPod touch only. Zephyr 1.2-1 update is available to download now from Cydia, and if you don’t already have Zephyr, you can find it for $2.99 in the BigBoss repo. It adds to the terrific enhancements it already provides. Furthermore, the latest version fixes number of other little bugs. The full list of changes includes:

Zephyr v1.2 out now in Cydia: iPad support, sensitivity settings, bugs fixed, better performance.Definitely worth checking out.

— Grant Paul (chpwn) (@chpwn) March 1, 2012

 Zephyr 1.2-1 Change Log

  • Supports the iPad and iPad 2.
  • Sensitivity setting for all gestures.
  • Add 0.1s delay for switcher.
  • Improved performance and reliability
  • Fix a number of bugs, including some crashes.

That who is unaware, Zephyr cydia tweak, developed by prominent jailbreak developer chpwn, brings Harmattan-style multitasking gestures for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 5 and above. Unlike other similar tweaks, Zephyr does not require Activator or other jailbreak tweaks to work.

Swiping up with your single finger brings the app-switcher multitasking tray (and normally it gets activated with a double tap of the home button); swiping left or right from the edge lets you switch between different apps without straining your hardware home button. Both gestures are simple, intuitive, and exactly the kind of function that Apple will wish to add in its future firmwares. Check out the video demo, before you decide to buy Zephyr tweak for your iOS device.

Zephyr cydia tweak works on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, iPad and iPad 2. In order to install Zephyr tweak, you must jailbreak your device on iOS 5 first. For iPhone 4S and iPad2, use Absinthe (guide here) and for other iOS devices, run redsn0w. After installing Zephyr via Cydia, reboot your iOS device. No icon will be added to the homescreen or settings available, however.

Track and Recover your Stolen iPhone with iTracker Jailbreak App
March 1, 2012 at 2:34 AM

iTracker, an anti-theft and tracking app for iPhone has just been updated to version 3.5 bringing number of path breaking features. Developer sj99 has added a feature that automatically captures the photo of the thief when he slide and unlock iPhone lockscreen and most of the sensitive information such as SMS, Contacts, Photos, video will be rendered inaccessible. Since the new iTracker 3.5 hides App icon, the thief, by no means, will be able to figure out if an iTracker app is installed on the iOS device.

Alternatively, you can capture thief’s photo by composing a SMS message and sending it to the iPhone. As soon as the SMS is received in background on stolen iPhone (without notice to the thief), a function will trigger the camera, and will take the picture in portrait mode.

iTracker Thief Photo

That who is unaware, iTracker is an advanced anti-stolen and tracking app for iPhone that allows you to find your stolen iPhone. When a thief inserts his SIM card, iTracker will automatically send you a SMS containing the phone number of the thief and will track the GPS location of your iPhone in real-time on Google maps, with any zoom level. It even tracks and store historical path of the thief's movement which will help you to find where he had gone to in the past few days. You can then inform the authority for action against him.

iTracker Tracks iPhone Location

In addition, you can remotely control your iPhone by sending custom commands to get useful information about your stolen phone – such as receiving the current location in a SMS, Forwarding all of the SMS of the thief to another mobile, Reboot or power off the iPhone and play alarm sounds through SMS commands.

iTracker jailbreak app is currently selling for a whopping $12.99 USD on the underground Cydia app store (under ModMyi repo) for jailbroken iOS devices. You can find a similar app entitled “iGotYa” for less than half of the price, available on cydia too under same repository.

You must be wandering, why to purchase one when we have got free “Find My iPhone” feature available from Apple? Well, these iPhone tracking apps actually packs advance features and are bit better at stacking incriminating evidence against the thief.

In order to install iTracker, your iPhone must already be jailbroken on iOS 5. You can then fire-up cydia, and add ModMyi repo, if you haven’t already. Then search for ‘iTracker’, select it, pay for the app and install it. That’s it!

Unlock your iPhone 4S Permanently with IMEI Unlock Method by CutYourSIM Service
March 1, 2012 at 12:36 AM

CutYourSIM is back with their factory unlock service and is offering a permanent unlock solution for your iPhone 4S without voiding your warranty. Just supply your iPhone’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and carrier to which your iPhone is locked to, and then wait a couple days for an e-mail confirming that the process is complete. In layman terms, they add your IMEI# to Apple’s unlocked iPhone database. It’s that simple.

CutYourSIM has promised to remotely unlock the iPhone device in a timeframe spanning between 3-10 business days, depending on the carrier chosen. Don’t you worry; you’ll get full refund, if they are not able to, provided that you supplied correct information including IMEI number.

The announcement was made a short while back on official site, claiming to unlock all iPhones from AT&T USA including the latest 4S. Price for this service has been set for 199.99 USD, $30 more than they charged last year. On price upfront, it's a decent buy, since Apple sells factory unlocked iPhone 4S for $450 more than with 2 year ball-and-chain contract. Don't expect to get your device unlocked within few minutes or hours. It might take between 1-20 days due to the high demand of this service. You can Buy the factory iPhone 4S unlock service today.

iPhone 4S Remote Unlock

We are very happy to announce that we just started a new service to unlock all iPhones from AT&T USA including the latest 4S.

This service is 100% tested by us and working but since we have only been able to test it for a short period of time we will still call it a beta service.

Price for this service will be 199.99USD. Turnaround will be set to 1-20 days due to the high demand of this service.

That who is unaware, method provided by CutYourSIM is a “permanent” unlocking solution, which doesn’t require to jailbreak your device and thus keeps your warranty intact. The best part of the factory unlock is that it will work with any iOS firmware, and any base band version; no need to worry about updating to the latest version of iOS anymore, your iPhone 4S will remain unlocked for life.

How CutYourSIM Factory unlock Service Works

Plausibly guys over CutYourSIM are having actual access to the Apple database or have a solid contact within AT&T who does have access to it. In order to permanently remove carrier restrictions, they simple add your iPhone IMEI in a whitelist database of unlocked iPhones. I don't think there is any way that can identify the backdoor unlocks and before they find the security hole (or mole), set your device free. Consider the following points before you buy the $200 service from them.

  1. Before purchasing this service, choose the correct carrier the iPhone was originally bought from, or LOCKED to, and NOT the carrier you want to use. You may use our iPhone Network Finder Service, before permanent IMEI unlock! If the carrier is not listed that means your iPhone 4S cannot be unlocked remotely right now.
  2. Key in your iPhone’s IMEI number and you can do so by dialing *#06#. Don't use any other way of getting your IMEI number. Refunds for orders with incorrect IMEI Numbers will not be made.
  3. Once payment is received, you will receive an email as soon as your iPhone 4S is unlocked.

unlocked iPhone itunes

If you don’t want to pay such exorbitant rates, you can choose cheaper alternatives: such as the Gevey SIM which unlocks your iPhone 4S without jailbreaking and keeps your warranty intact. It sells for $65, but is iOS firmware and baseband dependent.

Are you ready to buy Remote Unlock Service for iPhone 4S by CutYourSIM? Sound off in comments!

[UPDATE 1]: You can purchase unlock from iFixNWI.com for now, until website issues are resolved. Price has been reduced to $185. Choose Remote Unlocking Services

GroupRinger Cydia Tweak: Set Custom Ringtones to Contact Groups
February 29, 2012 at 8:29 PM

Looking for an application that lets you set group specific ringtone? Let’s say you want to create a group “Co-Worker” group and have a certain ringtone for it, and second a “Friends” group with its own ringtone. And when anyone in either group calls you'll immediately identify just by the ringtone.

This handy feature is missing in the stock builds of Apple iOS and many people are annoyed at being unable to assign ringtones at group level. But if you are using jailbroken iPhone, you are lucky.

iOS Developer Thiago de Conti Araujo has developed a cydia tweak ‘GroupRinger’ that allows you to assign different custom ringtones (or textones) to existing groups in your contacts with ease. With GroupRinger tweak, you can even manage the groups by creating, renaming or deleting them at your disposal. The app can be installed on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, 3GS – as long they are running on jailbroken iOS 5 firmware (works with iOS 4 as well). GroupRinger cydia tweak is compatible with third party ring tones or text tones that you create in addition to the stock tones that Apple provides for iOS devices.

GroupRinger for iPhone, which is priced at $0.99, can be downloaded from Cydia Store under BigBoss repo. After installing the tweak, you will notice GroupRinger icon on your Home Screen, and tapping onto which, you will be presented with a configuration panel, where you can create groups and assign custom ringtones to it. It does not have preferences for individual contacts, however.

GroupRinger iPhone App

Instead of going with GroupRinger, I would recommend installing RingerX VIP app that control your iPhone alerts (ringer, vibrator) and customize them for each contact, whether calls or messages (SMS, MMS, iMessage). It rocks useful features for both contacts and groups and can separately be set for calls and messages. It just cost $1 more that GroupRinger, but its worth to buy.
